Statement on the Mega Update of April 20, 2025
Dear WoD family, dear readers,
As already announced several months ago via various channels – including Skype, TeamSpeak, WhatsApp, Threema, and later on our News Page – we would like to provide you with this official statement to transparently inform you about the changes that have taken place:"Why has our WoD homepage been only partially visible to the public since April 20, 2025?"
This is exactly the question we now want to answer. Since this information is no longer accessible on the News Page, we are summarizing it here in detail.
📌 Background & Reasoning
We – the administrators and all contributors – decided in late summer 2024 that part of the website would be accessible only to registered members of the WoD family from April 20, 2025, i.e., five days after our 10th anniversary. Specifically, this means that from that date onward, guest access is gradually restricted, and certain pages are no longer available. This step has now been fully implemented, as announced. The decision was made after careful consideration and is based on several important factors:- The desire to provide members with greater security and data protection.
- The intention to focus functions and content on a closed community.
- A return to the original purpose of the homepage, which was intended primarily for internal use by the WoD family – even though it was publicly accessible for many years.
- The planned restructuring and complete rebuild of the homepage to better meet the current needs and requirements of our family.

No, the WoD-Family is by no means offline or ended – quite the opposite.
Even though the public visibility of the WoD homepage changed significantly on April 20, 2025, and many areas are no longer accessible to guest visitors, this does not mean the end of our community. Rather, it is a deliberate realignment and return to what has always defined the WoD-Family: a protected, familial, and engaged community.
The WoD-Family therefore continues to exist – but more strongly within a closed, protected framework. Our internal areas, communication channels, and offerings remain available to our members as usual and are even being further developed. New functions, content, and opportunities are now emerging with a focus on trustworthy interaction within the community.

Some of the currently still publicly visible pages – such as static info notices, announcements, and contact options – will initially remain online to continue providing basic information about the platform to guests.
Whether these pages will remain permanently or will also be deactivated at a later time depends on internal decisions, the further development of the platform, and general demand.
If a complete shutdown of these areas occurs, it will be announced publicly and in the members' area in a timely manner. Transparent communication is particularly important to us.

Currently, it is not planned to offer a forum for guests. Since the founding of the WoD-Family and its homepage, we have operated various forums for the public as well as for WoD members. However, these had to be discontinued due to abuse, violations of the house rules, and repeated conflicts among members with the moderators.
For this reason, the WoD-Family sees no need to provide public forums again. Communication within the WoD-Family currently takes place via platforms like Discord, previously also via Skype (which was discontinued), Teamspeak, WhatsApp, and Threema. However, a support forum is currently being introduced as a test for WoD members, which focuses on the News Page and is available exclusively to members. Another public forum is not planned in the near future.

To access the other pages, you first need the link from the new hosting provider. This link will be provided to you by a leader, deputy, or diplomat in-game via PM or through platforms like Discord, Teamspeak, WhatsApp, or Threema.
Once you have received the link, you must register on the new site to create an access account. Simply follow the instructions on the site. After your account has been checked and verified by the administration, you will gain access to the non-public pages.

The restructuring and complete rebuilding of the homepage was a process that took place over several months. Initial thoughts and planning began well before the actual implementation. This initially involved analysis: which functions were used most frequently by members, which areas were less relevant, and where was the greatest need for improvement? In parallel, the technical possibilities were examined to make the site more modern, secure, and user-friendly.
After this planning phase, the concrete concept development followed. We dealt intensively with questions such as design, structure, data protection, and technical stability. Topics like member management, forum functionality, news section, and the integration of new features had to be considered in detail.
The actual construction and technical implementation then took several weeks. Step by step, a completely new foundation was created – from installing and adapting the software to individual extensions, security measures, and visual refinement. Internal tests, feedback rounds, and bug fixes were also part of this process, ensuring that the new homepage not only runs stably but is also expandable in the long term.
In summary, the entire journey – from the first idea through planning and concept phase to final implementation – took several months. The homepage was thus prepared and rebuilt in many steps over an extended period before it finally went live.

Partially. We, the developers, will not carry out major updates or further development on the currently publicly visible pages, unless the administration decides to make minor changes. Our focus is now entirely on the new hosting provider. However, if necessary updates to the contact form or other important areas arise, we will, of course, take care of them.
Answered by: Development Team
Yes. The following pages
the main page
the contact page
the imprint page
the application page
the privacy policy page
are also visible on the new hosting provider, just displayed slightly differently / more. Thus, members do not need to switch between two hosts directly.

The combined guest and member contact form has now been changed at the request of the administration. To report members, leaders, alliances, etc., via contact form, you must log in or register on our new hosting provider and use the new contact form there. This function is no longer available on the old host (wrath-of-darkness.w4f.eu/contact). This contact form is now fully available only for guests.
Answered by: Development Team
We cannot say anything definite about this yet. Until further notice, the comment function remains deactivated. Whether it will be reactivated at some point remains to be seen.
Answered by: Development Team
The version of the public contact form was adjusted because various functions such as ''reporting members, leaders ...'' were removed at the request of the administration, and therefore the version is no longer standard.

Sort of. The old forums on the former News Page forum will no longer exist. However, the forum will be provided as a ''Support'' form. You can ask questions in the forum in case of problems or general questions (within the News Page). Other forums will not exist. This is only allowed for authors on the page. For questions outside the News Page, please use the contact form.
Answered by: Administration
No, this is still only allowed for leaders. Members can, however, visit the News Page as usual and read the latest articles.

Yes, if a member leaves the WoD-Family and joins another alliance, their account for the new hosting provider will be irrevocably deleted. This is done for security and data protection reasons to ensure that only active members have access to internal areas. In exceptional cases, such as special circumstances or long-term membership, a special agreement can be made, but this is subject to strict conditions. These exceptions require thorough review by the administration to prevent misuse and unauthorized access.

No, a return to full public visibility of the WoD homepage is not planned. Our homepage has been publicly accessible for over a decade, which was not originally intended. For this reason, we have now decided to reserve the site exclusively for internal use by our members. This aligns with the original vision that the WoD homepage is a private space for our family – a safe place for internal communication, news, and exchange without external influences. This decision was made after careful consideration to protect the privacy and exclusivity of our community.
Therefore, reopening it to the public is – as of today – neither planned nor intended.
Answered by: Administration
No. This is neither possible nor permitted in the public or current member contact form – reason: the contact form is not designed for this. To cancel a membership, we ask for a direct conversation with the alliance leader via TS or DC (group call).
A written cancellation is accepted ''only'' from employed team members, i.e., (Administrator, Moderator, or Developer), and is handled only by the HR department. Employed means those who receive a small but regular income through their position.
Volunteer (Administrator, Moderator, or Developer) team members must, if a cancellation is imminent, discuss it with the respective group leader via TS or DC; a written cancellation is not accepted.
If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this topic, please contact the administration directly via email.
